This is the second painting in my experiment with painting two versions of the exact same scene. (The other painting is “El Moro Cove, Overcast, 10am”.) In this painting I started with a Thalo (very dark staining) green drawing and a pale green sky and water. Throughout the painting process I sought to emphasize the greens that I saw, while remaining true to the color and value relationships. You’ll note that the sky, water and beach are slightly greener in this painting, but that the two paintings are very similar.
